“5 plus 1”, as Arlington faculty member Dr. G put it so simply, the Lady Eagles of Arlington Baptist School played the entire regular season with just 5 players. Through the Grace of God they made it to the end without significant injuries.

The Lady Eagles, guided by our 2nd year coach Kenya Davol and assisted by coach Twilah Copland, finished the season 3rd in Conference never having beaten the top 2 teams in regular season play. With wins over Mt. Airy (41-34) and Granite Baptist (28-25) “5 plus 1” emerge as 2012 MASAC Tournament Champions (Girls B).

Tournament MVP Jahnee Waller led the team with 50 points scored through the 3 games. But it was the defense and shot blocking of Alexis Fitch and Conor Patterson that made the difference.

Carroll Christian’s Middle School Girls basketball team won their second championship since 2006 after many trips to the finals but falling short. Lead by eighth graders Mary Underman (16 pts) and Kristy Memphis (6pts), the Patriots were able to adjust after an earlier loss two weeks prior to Harford Christian to beat Harford 26 – 19. Using a tight zone defense & taking care of the ball against a full court man-to-man press, the Patriots were able to keep Harford from easy rebounds and easy points off turnovers. Shooting 8 for 17 from the foul line in the fourth quarter helped the Patriots to seal the victory. The Patriots finished the year 14 – 1.
